Elemental spirits favor individuals who are lawful to the order of nature and life, but since Taringail is not technically living, they will shy away. Dark spirits will be the last to forsake him, if ever. For now, Taringail's strongest element is Air, followed by Fire, Water, Light, Earth, Dark and Spirit. Notes on Abilities: Taringail's vampirism allows him to gain certain abilities over his life. He, for now, is resistant to sunlight for three hours out of every day. He also has the ability to charm his victims, which all vampires have. He uses this by focusing his energy and staring into his victim's eyes. Using this same technique, he can also draw life-force and strength from his victims. History: Taringail spent 123 years as an elf, 1,098 years as a vampire. He was born in an elven settlement in a small forest called the Fire Water Woods. He was born in the first generation after the elves who had come there from the Mirror Forest. As a young man, he was a dreamer, hoping to find something greater in life than what he knew. Taringail left home in search of adventure when he was 117 and traveled across Kastuul controlled Lodoss. During his travels, he encountered a vampiric woman who told him seductive stories of the vampire life. He was enchanted by her tales--and maybe a little by her--and asked to be turned. The woman, Kalika, happily granted his wish and made him a vampire like herself. He spent sometime within her cult, but found their lifestyle unappealing. They were cruel to their prey and indiscriminant s to who they killed. Taringail himself could not stand to kill and feed off a woman or elf. Disgusted, Taringail chose to leave and Kalika decided to follow him. As two lovers, they wandered Lodoss, finding adventure. While enjoying themselves at a tavern, Taraingail and Kalika decided to go out and find some food. Over the years they made a game out of it. Kalika was to go and seduce a couple of guys and pretend to lead them back to her place when instead she would lead them straight to Taringail. Instead, while Taringail was waiting, Kalika found another, and stronger vampire and he was looking for a meal too. Kalika tried to fight him but she was too drunk to even defend herself very well. She started screaming and yelling for Taringail but by the time he got there, she was already dead. Since Taringail had gone through many years of sword training, he killed the other vampire quickly. After weeping for Kalika he took her dragon pendant and gave her a burial. Taringail traveled alone for the next few centuries. Near the end of Kastuul's rule, the sorcerors of the Ancient Kingdom hunted down the vampires and killed many. However, Taringail avoided this. Not being a part of a cult, he was much safer. Over the centuries, he turned a few people and had many lovers, but none could compare to Kalika. She was his first and greatest love, so far at least. While traveling in the White Dragon Mountains, Taringail met up with several clerics of the Goddess Marfa, they recognized him for what he was and tried to destroy him, believing all vampires were creatures of Darkness. Taringail wanted to bring no harm to these priests, after all, several were woman. He summoned spirits of Ice to create a barrier and Sylph to create a blizzard and hide his escape. One of the Elemental spirits he had summoned, an Ice Mephit, left the rest of her kind in the plane of Ice to the physical plane. She had been curious when the vampiric elf called out to her and wanted to know more about him. Taringail spoke with the spirit and the tiny fairy was allured to the physical plane. He gave her the name Aluen and she left the mountains with him. Taringail and Aluen became a team. He taught the fairy about his world, and to drink. During their time together, he realized the Ice Mephit was attracted to him. He never let on that he knew and her feelings changed to a more protective-sisterly type of love. Through his travels, Taringail has forged a few friendships with men and women. One of which, was that of a young elf during the war of the Demon God. The elf, Terin, had been horrible wounded in battle and suffered amnesia. With Taringail's respect for his original race, he took the injured soldier away from the battlefield and returned him to health. However, when Terin regained his memory, he saw Taringail for what he was, and left. Another was that of a beautiful dark elven woman by the name of Sevrina. She was an assassin and an incredible lover. They were kindred hearts, but were only together for a night and a day. Though, it was a very memorable night. She knew what he was from the start, but was fearless. If he had any intention of biting her, she had the ability to stop him. Taringail had no interest in taking her life however, for his personal code of honor forbid it. Most recently, it was a young human boy who Taringail couldn't bring himself to kill. So he spared this boy for his youth and became a mentor to him, and drinking buddy. However, Daermon learned the truth of him as well and fled. Many years later, Taringail found himself in Raiden after the opening of the Chaos Gate. He encountered many of the heroes again, including Sevrina, Terin, and Daermon. He disappeared until the battle where he helped in the effort to destroy the Yoroi. Personality: Dark and threatening alcoholic. A lover AND a fighter. He can sweep women off their feet with one look. Taringail does not like attention drawn to himself therefore remaining in the shadows of the night, hence the nickname Shadow. He tends to sort of play games (like tag and hide'n'seek) with his victims before killing them just to make it a little more fun. With the keen hearing and sense of smell of Taringails, it is easy to find a victim at half a mile away or more. However, Taringail does have a sense of honor. He will not bite a woman--unless she wishes to be turned--, a child, or one of his race; a Light elf. Though he does have the companionship of Aluen, he is often lonely, looking for friends and lovers that are more like him than a little fairy. Her wings are bat-like and clear, with a bluish tint and claws at the highest joint. Long, full silver hair falls to her knees and frames her delicate face. Two pieces of hair stick out on top of her head, resembling antenae. Her skin is blue-grey and cold looking to match her frozen environment. Aluen's eyes are such a beautiful ice blue that even the strongest of men would not be able to withstand looking at her, at least, if she were big enough. Height: 7" Weight: 6 oz Build: Slender and Fairy Like Hair Color: Silver Eye Color: Ice Blue Skin Tone: Ice Blue/Grey Magic System: Elementalism Type: Elemental Magic Element: Ice History: Years have no meaning to an immortal spirit. Aluen has no memory of her creation, as far as anyone can tell, she's always been. Once, she was summoned by an elven vampire, Taringail. It was the first time she had ever been called by a shaman. Removed for the first time from her frozen realm in the White Dragon Mountains, she grew curious of the rest of the world. She attached herself to Taringail and became his companion. He taught her of the world and their years together, Aluen fell in love with the vampire. It could never be however, mainly for the physical differences. Aluen's love has gradually changed, but she hates to see Taringail with other women. Learning about the world through a vampire's eyes, Aluen has become cynical and took to drinking. Taringail has shown Aluen that the world is more beautiful at night, and a lot more fun too. Personality: Aluen is a little on the cynical side and likes to hide in the shadows of Taringail's hair. She finds Taringail attractive, but an intimate relationship between them is completely impossible. So Aluen is very protective of Taringail, she makes certain only women who are worthy enough, in her eyes, get close to him. Yet, over the years, her feelings toward him are more of sisterly love than romantic love. Taringail has learned the hard way that despite her size, she can really hold her liquor.
