Player Contact Information Real Name: Adam Bemis Y! Profile: zatch_17 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Name: Crassus "Zatch" Kar de Raul Age: 22 Birth Year: NRC 504 Gender: Male Race: Human Homeland: Born on Marmo and studied in Raiden Physical Description: Somewhat skinny and almost frail looking, Zatch was never endowed with great striength or fortitude so he relies mostly on his intellegence and fast wits to survive. Although he is stronger and more resillient than he appears (just not much). He has long jet black hair and wears black upper class atire. Height: 5'6" Weight: 125lbs Build: Slight/Gangly Hair Color: Black Eye Color: Grey Skin Tone: Pale Occupation/Class: Scholar Weapon: Elven Rapiere Armor: None Items: Red scarf and some books Horse: Rasputin Magic Items: None Enchantments: None Special Abilities: Shade of the Abyss Notes on Abilities: Zatch has an unlimited power supply, however his ability to draw and release power is very limited. When he isn't in battle or training his powers are dorment and he's more or less a normal person. So before he goes into battle he has to build up power or he'll have problems later. It's a lot like stretching out before lifting weights, you can work out for hours without warming up and not have any problems right away, up but you'll regret it the next morning. Zatch has extensive knowledge in physics, chemistry, and math. He knows six different languages other than common including two Alecrastian dialects, Kastuulian, Dwarvish, Goblin, and some Elvish phrases. He is well versed in post Kastuulian history (Anyone who knows much about before Kastuul would have to have been alive at the time.) and he carries a level 4 membership in the sages guild. As an allumni to the Rhada academy he is granted access to some of the more rare resources in Alania. However he has little experience in the outer world, he doesn't know how to hunt or survive outside civilization and if something wouldn't be found in a book then he most likely doesn't know much about it. History: Zatch Kar de Raul (Zatch is his first name, Kar is his surname, de means "Son of", and Raul was his father) was born with the unique ability to understand and harness the power of the shadow plane, located opposite of the light plane with our world and it's parallels in between the two. This however doesn't effect his alignment at all since darkness is really neutral and is only shunned because of the evils associated with it. Although this is the same power source as dark gods and necromancers, he can tap into it directly, thus his magic is more raw and unrefined, and can only be applied in combat. He was born on Marmo as the son of Raul Kar de Tseng, a high priest of Kardis and the Count of one of the few human settlements. His mother, Elora Kar, was a former priestess of Rhada and first molded Zatch into a scholar. He also had two older brothers, Kai and Artor, but Artor died in the War of Heroes and Kai dissapeared when he was believed dead as well. Growing up, Zatch led a privilaged life and enjoyed wealth, servants, and a large personal library to serve his thirst for knowlege. But when he was 15 he realized that he had to leave Marmo and abandon his faith in Kardis in order to explore his attunement to the Abyss. Raul was furious to hear this and beat Zatch within an inch of his life, swearing to finish the job should he ever return. His mother then secretly nursed him back to health and gave him a small fortune for his journey. After a few years of wandering he settled down in Raiden and used the last of his fortune to pay his way into the Rada academy of arts and science. When he learned all he could there he decided to set out once more and see if his destiny lied elsewhere, but he didn't get very far when the Abyss spoke to him and told him to seek out a man of great power. That's how he encountered Toan. As a result of a misunderstanding the two battled and nearly killed eachother. As they agreed to be allies Fenix appeared and took them to a holy temple to have thier wounds healed, when the temple was attacked they pulled together and fought to defend it, they were successful but Zatch was unsure of the price as he was forced to use a dengerous meneuver. When they joined the rest of the group in Mirror Forest Zatch fell in love with the young priestess Sakura, unfortunatly Fenix had fallen in love with her as well. She was attracted to both of men but in the end it was obvious she chose Fenix. Out of rage Zatch summoned as much power as he could, never fully intending to use it, but the power was too much and drove him insane for a moment. A spell was cast which brought Fenix to the brink of death. Zatch's insanity instantly receded, leaving him with the full gravity of his action. He left, promising to use his recources on Marmo to continue fighting the Darke, even if it meant confronting his father. The spell Zatch used to leave the inn had severely drained him, he would have died if not for the kindness of a young woman named Delilah (Whom in more peaceful times he would have fallen in love with) and her children. Just as Zatch had recovered and was on his way Delilah and the children were attack by undead. Zatch saved the children but failed to rescue their mother, who died in his arms. With renewed hatred for the powers of evil, Zatch returned to Marmo to find his home abandoned and the last of his family gone. It was there he was reunited with his brother Kai, but it was also there he learned that his magic was slowly killing him from the inside out. Personality: Calm and collected, maybe a little too serious at times. He tends to come off as synical with strangers, but can be charming once one gets to know him. Zatch has a disslike for any kind of dog or wolf, only enough so to make him not want to deal with any (such as Mathyas). It comes from a childhood trauma when he was almost killed by a hell hound when he was 5. Also, animals (except for his horse) tend to react badly to him because of the faint energy he he gives off. Good Points: Well educated and resourcefull. Bad Points: Distant and sad, he buries himself in his work whenever he gets the chance. Alignment: Neutral Good Quotes: "When you're being disintigrated alive it doesn't exactly give you a cheerful disposition." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Horse Name: Rasputin Gender: Male Age: 9 Breed: Warhorse Appearance: Heavy built like a horse built for work, he is also perfect for a war-horse. All black except for a white daimond shaped patch on his forehead and bushy white socks at the hooves. Height: 18 Hands Weight: 1,500lbs Hair Color: Silky Black Eye Color: Gold History: Rasputin is Zatch's horse and possbly the only animal in the world he trusts. He was given to Zatch as a birthday gift when he was a young colt. Ever since they have grown to trust eachother. Temperment: Immensly friendly and loves attention. He never bites hard but he tends to nibble on peoples hair and ears. He's very loyal to Zatch but that loyalty is easily traded to anyone who gives him a little attention. Give him a green apple and he'll be your best friend for life. Having spent most of his life around Zatch has not only given Rasputin a tollerance to Zatch's energy discharge, but it has also allowed him to sense Zatch's presence. When in doubt he usually tends to follow Zatch's energy signature, unless he's distracted by something shiney or sweet. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Theme Song In the End by Linkin Park It starts with love/One thing I don't know why/It doesn't even matter how hard you try/Keep that/in mind I designed this rhyme/To explain in due time/(All I know)/Time is a valuable thing/Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings/Watch it count down to the end of the day/The clock ticks life away/(It's so unreal)/Didn't look out below/Watch the time go right out the window/Trying to hold on but didn't even know/Wasted it all just to/Watch you go/I kept everything inside and even though I tried it all fell apart/What it meant to me will eventually be a memory of a time when...//I tried so hard/And got so far/But in the end/It doesn't even matter/I had to fall/to lose it all/But in the end/It doesn't even matter//One thing I don't know why/It doesn't even matter how hard you try/Keep that in mind I designed this rhyme/To remind myself how/(I tried so hard)/In spite of the way you were mocking me/Acting like I was part of your property/Remembering all the times you fought with me/I'm surprised it got so (far)/Things aren't the way they were before/You wouldn't even recognize me anymore/Not that you knew me back then/But it all comes back to me/In the end/You kept everything inside and even though I tried it all fell apart/What it meant to me will eventually be a memory of a time when I tried//I tried so hard/And got so far/But in the end/It doesn't even matter/I had to fall/to lose it all/But in the end/It doesn't even matter//I've put my trust in you/Pushed as far as I can go/for all this/There's only one thing you should know//I've put my trust in you/Pushed as far as I can go/For all this/There's only one thing you should know//I tried so hard/And got so far/But in the end/It doesn't even matter/I had to fall/to lose it all/But in the end/It doesn't even matter ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shade Of the Abyss This is by far the rarest form of magic on Lodoss (So far Zatch is the only known person to be able to use it) and one could argue whether or not it should be considered magic at all. Beyond our world are several planes, some are closer than others but all are connected to our world, as well as each other. One of which is the Shadow Plane (also called the Void or Abyss) This plane represents all things negative; dark rather than light, cold rather than warmth, oblivion rather than presence just as the light plane represents the opposite of all these things. For a long time it has been assumed that there is nothing inside the Shadow Plane, and that it is frightfully empty in it's infinate stretches, however it's possible that there is in fact presence of some kind in the Void. If this is true there could be an array of native phenomena inside, maybe even life of some kind. The only known way to use Shadow Magic is to have been born with a special understanding, or attunement, to the Abyss. Through this understanding one can draw energy from the Abyss and by channeling it through one's body the energy it can be released into our world. Unlike other systems Shadow Magic does not require faith, prayer, long study, or a connection with spirits. Incantations aren't even completley necesarry, but they do aid in concentration which is essential. However, if it does have a drawback then it's certainly this; energy from the Shadow Plane has a acidic like quality even before it's released into our world, if too much is summoned at once then the caster risks serious physical complications, even death. Examples of Incantations: "Shadow of Darkness I summon the hands of Ghenna!" "Shade of oblivion, open thy gates and let me walk home."
