Abilities

Luda’s healing spells are adequate but not of miraculous power. She can bless weapons with the protection of Myrii. She can bless a person, endowing them with courage. In order to grant protection to an entire party, it’s necessary for her to sing the hymn of Myrii. If she is unable to sing at the time, then she can’t use this ability.

Personality

Luda is serious and cool-headed. She speaks bluntly and to the point. Though at heart she is a kind person, her no-nonsense attitude can seem cold and sometimes offensive to others. Her face is always in a calm, calculating, almost forlorn expression, hardly ever frowning or smiling. Few people can make her laugh or get angry or break out of character. People who are very perceptive can feel a deep sadness and loneliness in her. Her actions are always based in logic and reason, even in the heat of a battle. When others are celebrating, she is the one who continues to look out for danger. She is mysterious and has an eloquent way of speaking. She would rather sit quietly and sip a cup of tea than dance and drink wine. Luda is also a writer of poems and songs, though she hardly ever reveals them to others. Her favorite writing subjects are her comrades and their experiences. She has a quiet obsession with war and seeks out war-torn places and travel-weary heroes. Sometimes her interest in violence or her placid summaries of terrible experiences can make people think she is cruel or unfeeling, but this is far from the truth. She wants more than anything to prevent violence. She cares deeply for many people around her, though she rarely lets it show.

History

Her father has one of the holy knights of Valis, and died in the War of Heroes when she was five years old. This could be one reason for her strange fascination with the ways of war. Her mother’s family is quite distinguished and well-known in many areas of Lodoss. “Rhan” is her mother’s family name. The Rhan family is known for its long line of priests and priestesses. Their extended family is spread through the countries of Lodoss and through ties with royalty and family ties with each other, they try to influence peace between the countries. When the holy nation of Valis was established, her grandfather was one of the priests who established the shrine to Myrii there in Roid.

Luda herself found that she was most attuned to the powers of Myrii, the war god, and though most women of her family serve Marfa, she chose to become a priestess of Myrii like her grandfather. He trained he in the ways arts combat from the time she was old enough to hold a weapon. When she was fourteen she began training intensely in holy magic. She was the only female in her area in the training of Myrii, but proved herself to be able of the task by keeping up with and sometimes defeating the priests in training. She was also the most studious pupil and learned many things about history and philosophy. Finally, she became a priestess and set out to serve righteous warriors. She is pleased to accompany small groups of crusaders and adventures setting out from Valis. Luda is fascinated with war and the never ending wars of Lodoss.

She offers her services at very low requests, usually just meals and a place to sleep for the duration of the quest. She hopes to become a priestess in the castle of one of the kingdoms of Lodoss someday and be set out on missions of great importance by kings and queens. It’s not the luxury of having loyal ties that she desires, but rather the opportunity to prevent war by being near it’s political source. Her skills make her a desirable companion for a quest and she often teams up with mercenaries and knights.

Luda has met her cousin Luria once, but remembers her only because it was the first time she had ever seen a elf and a half-elf. It is amazing she remembers that much, because at the time she was only five years old and her father had just died. Luria’s family had come to offer their condolence to Luda’s widowed mother.
