Day Three: First Wave

These are the old posts from the original Eiyuu Kishi Den, dubbed “The Chaos War” (no relation to another Lodoss website). This RP ran from June 2001-2004. Regrettably, I deleted all the old group posts, though I did save them in archives, they are out of order. I will not attempt to make these continuous, it's far too much of a hassle.

The dwarven woman shrieked as she saw the claws coming for her and she dropped to the ground and rolled to the side. The Yoroi's claws hit pavement instead, catching it's claws between the cobble stone. Granite was back on her feet and heaved her axe again, this time at the Yoroi's elbows.

Wolf wrote:The weapon severed the Yoroi's fingers cleanly from its palm when Kai freed it from the creature's grip. When he saw the weapon come for him again the creature attempted to catch the weapon in its teeth. The tips caught the weapon and began to weaken its impact, but not before it cut clean through his head.

This acted as a distraction as another Yoroi, one as large as Kai, pounced at him from behind.
"Is that all you have?! I'm just warming up!" Kai shouted as the monster's head fell to the ground. By then he knew that there were many who were coward enough to attack from behind, and he refused to allow his death to come that way. He learned through experience to keep his senses open all around him. Even so, he barely noticed the Yoroi behind him about to close in. Half from a blur in the corner of his eye and the other half being sheer instinct he guessed that something was about to attack his blind spot.

Kai reacted on pure reflex and without looking he thrust his sword behind him. Knowing that Gilgamesh couldn't penetrate their armor, Kai hoped in the split second he had that his sword would find it's way to one of the joints.

Fasz caught the movement of the Yoroi out of the corner of his eye and carried on his cry as he insanely ran head on at the monster. As they met, Fasz swung his blade upward, catching the Yoroi under it's arm with a powerful blow, enhanced by his adrenaline.

Sevrina had six more quivers left and thought it best to save the rest for later. Glancing across the battle field in the streets, she glimpsed Kai's predicament. And with a new sense of comradery, she leapt down from the eave and made a dash for Kai and the Yoroi attacking him. The dark elf came up from behind, ran up the back of the beast and jammed her assassin's daggers under a plate of armor protecting the back of the neck, hoping to sever the spine.

Knight of Lodoss wrote:Parn saw the creature lunging, and immediately found its weakness. It jumped around, yes, but in doing that it made nothing but power attack. Crouching down, he aimed his sword at the Yoroi's chest plate and used his shield to block himself from above. He would let the creatures own power impale itself on his sword and let the ground take the rest of the impact.
Faiza's body continued spinning, facing down towards the blade and Parn. The tip of the blade struck his right breast but was spun off to the side as his knees crashed into Parn's shoulders and back from above.
Deedlit wrote:Deedlit howled in pain as claws bit into her flesh. At least her most vital points were protected by her elven steel armor. The metal claws shrieked as they drew across it, but did no harm. Finally, the creature's stirrings stopped and Deedlit weakly withdrew her blade. She hadn't the strength to take on another. Instead, she let the dead Yoroi act as a shield for her as she regained her bearings.
The remaining Yoroi moved around their fallen comrade and Deedlit, searching for feisty and live prey.
Little Knight wrote:Azala pulled his tongue back in and made a sour face. His tongue! Well, that honestly hurt like hell. Of course, if that creature was going to take a piece of him, Azala was going to take a piece of the creature. Ducking under the creature's grasp and around it, Azala grabbed the barbed tail and hacked upwards from underneath between it's armor plates. "Well, I can't kill ya, but I can certainly dismantle ya!"
The Yoroi let out a low howl but remained still as a gust of wind picked up behind the elf. Azala was instantly lifted up to the height of the storm by a Wyvern who had hooked him underneath each arm.
singularityman wrote:Thangroth grinned as he pulled his reserve weapon, then hefting his great axe took note of the beast's tail and injured knee. Its mobility would be off, but that made it no less dangerous. Moving as quickly as he could the dwarf darted right in a feint then moved left as he performed a another feint, attempting a fake swing for the creature's left knee then suddenly brining the edge of the axe up and under the Yoroi's left armpit, where the creature's armor seamed and would be weaker. The dwarf, didn't expect to sever the limb but he could severely damage the arm as he put all his strength behind the attack.
The creature stopped as he saw what the dwarf was up to but it was too late to evade. The tip of the blade caught his softer flesh and tore upwards, cutting the flesh but not going deep as his bone. Black blood geysered from the wound and covered Thangroth's axe. With a scream his right arm came swinging for the dwarf's head.
singularityman wrote:Azoth could hear the screams and cries of those around him. But to take his eyes off his enemy meant certain doom. With his blade caught, Azoth was not without his tricks. Shifting slightly he kicked out at the beast's knees which caused his body to rotate slightly giving him the leverage to pull backwards on his sword to free it from the creatures grasp.
The beast spun quickly, bringing its thick armored tail swinging towards Azoth intending to strike with as much momentum as possible.

Granite's attack cleanly removed his right forearm from his body, his left arm was freed a moment before the weapon struck. Quickly the beast recovered and spun around, gaining momentum for his attack, he sent a backhand followed by a tail for Granite.

The attack caught the Yoroi just under the shoulder, with enough force to separate the creature from its left arm. However it did not stop its charge. The Yoroi speared his hand and aimed it towards Fasz's abdomen.

"DEED!!" He called out, his body gaining renewed vigor and strength. Any pain he felt was gone, replaced with the thoughts of saving Deedlit. Parn was gaining an adrenaline rush, giving him strength enough to throw Faiza off of him, then bringing his sword down. Azala groaned as he felt the Wyvern claws put pressure against his elven steel armor. Of course, being lifted off the ground just sucked to. But unfortunately for the Wyverns, they had picked him up rather then a helpless human. "Sylph, spirit of the wind..."

There was a large gust of wind generated from his body, ripping the membranes out of the Wyvern carrying him, and forcibly removing the claws from his body. For any Wyvern unfortunate enough to be to close, the wind blast was enough to be like a concussion blast, sending the still living creatures to the ground, usually ending up as blood splats on the ground. Meanwhile, Azala floated down to around 50 ft above the ground, crossed his arms at the Yoroi, and smirked. Sylph was allowing him to hover, well for now. And this would serve as some psychological superiority tactics.

"Hey bucket heads! You know what? YOU HAVE NO BALLS!!" He yelled, cupping his hands around his mouth.
"Money! Babes! Alcohol!! GWAHAHA!"

Deedlit heard Parn scream her name and glanced in his direction. He was carelessly running to her rescue, not knowing that she wasn't as bad off as she appeared. Deedlit pushed herself up and crawled out from beneath the fallen Yoroi. Her strength was gathered for a powerful summon. She wasn't going to try for Djinn, but Aruku would do well enough. "Parn! Don't worry about me!" she called, throwing up her hands in defense. She murmured something and took the air.

With the aid of sylph, Deedlit rose about the battle and clasped her hands together for a summon....

While the young dwarf's attack was successful on the beast it retaliated in deadly fashion. Thangroth was unable to avoid the blow all together, managing to duck his head out of the way, the dwarf grit his teeth as the Yoroi's claws raked into and out of his shoulder. Blood flowed from a newly made wound, the injury wasn't life threatening but it definitely woke Thangroth up.

Thangroth noticed the creature's attack put pressure on it's right knee, as it was favoring the damaged left one. Smiling, Thangroth growled ferally and charged forward thrusting all his weight into barreling into the yoroi's bad knee, while swinging his axe up going for the creature's other wound under it's armpit.

The backhand caught the side of Granite's face, but her sturdy dwarven frame probably saved her from a broken neck. The dwarven woman tumbled backwards and bounced over the tail. Granite came to a stop against a body of a dead priest of Myrii. She was seeing double and was too dazed to get up. She watched two versions of a half-armed and limping Yoroi bring it's attention to her.

If Kai had even a split second longer to react he may have been able to jump over the Yoroi's tail. Instead his legs were swept from under him and for a moment he completely lost track of which way was up. His armored body landed hard on the ground with a metallic thud as the air was forced out of his lungs. Fortunately his torso absorbed most of the shock and spared him from a serious head injury.

Kai found himself on his back with the Gilgamesh just beyond his reach. Knowing he would have little time to react the knight pulled a large kukri from his belt and taking advantage of his position he thrust the arched knife into his opponent's knee.

As it came around for the spin, she leaned forward, snatching a pair of smaller daggers from her boot tops and jammed them under both the Yoroi's arms. It tried to swipe her off with it's tail, but she laid too close to it's body for it to touch her.

Fasz saw the Yoroi's hand heading towards him, the strong attack he executed on the Yoroi's shoulder had left him undefended. Failing to dodge the counterattack, Fasz saw how the beast's hand didn't penetrate his digestive system; not leaving a deadly wound. Luckily, he evaded a fatal attack, but the Yoroi's hand made a huge cut that almost reached his back. Going almost insane, Fasz shifted his sword from one hand to another as he moved fast around the Yoroi. Using his right hand to keep balance, he struck with his sword towards the Yoroi's throat.

Deedlit called upon her spirit and a cyclone formed from the clouds above and touched down in the street. It sucked in wyverns and tore down the road, sucking up Yoroi as it came. Inside, the enemy was pummeled with stones and their own bodies. Deedlit and Aruku both held tight control on the cyclone. Once it made it to the front lines, they would have to stop it too keep from sucking up their own troops, but for now, it was doing a good job of cutting through the enemy.

They did no realize what this battle was about. The alliance of races below believed it was for a city, for home, for lives. No, this battle was for Time. A precious commodity, and by battling, and waiting they squandered it.

Cray knowingly waited for this moment. He spread his single wing out and thrusts the feathers forward again, sending dozens of feathers spiraling towards Vesper specifically. As they flew Cray conjured a second wave of fire, forming it into several floating spheres before launching those as well.

Vesper drew his nameless rapier and cut through every feather and spear. The wind created from his motions effectively destroyed each projectile. In return he thrust the weapon forward, sending lighting from his arm through the weapon and towards Cray.

The flameweaver cut through the bolt of energy with Atra. "There is nothing I cannot sever," Cray growled and moved forward, with his right arm conjuring heat again and slamming it towards the General of the Sky as a stream of golden flame. The flames engulfed its target as well as several wyvern that had gotten too close.

The flames exploded as Vesper threw out his arms and sent the flames in every direction with his wind. By that time Cray had leapt into the air and swung down towards Vesper's head. His rapier came up and caught the larger weapon with ease. The conflict of metal brought Cray and Vesper face to face for the first time since Roid.

"For all of your crimes." Cray pushed his weight towards Vesper and struck with his right hand. The tightened fist slammed into Vesper's stomach, the first direct blow to the General's body. A look of shock erupted over his face. "Know that the weight of my fist, is the weight of your Sins."
Knight of Lodoss wrote:"DEED!!" He called out, his body gaining renewed vigor and strength. Any pain he felt was gone, replaced with the thoughts of saving Deedlit. Not waiting to see if that had done the job, he rushed to Deedlit's side, practically daring those Yoroi to come.
Heaven Savior bit into Faiza's left shoulder to the right of the joint. He stood slowly from his kneeling position. And watched Parn flee after wounding himself from Faiza's blow. The leader stood and motioned for the free soldiers to kill off whatever they were engaged with and move towards the center of the city.

The twister did indeed do its job, lifting off bodies and living off the ground. The weight and speed of the Yoroi race allowed half the numbers caught to latch onto ground or wall with their claws of break free. The rest were caught up in the storm of flying rock.

The remaining Yoroi, lead by Faiza began a march…
Little Knight wrote:"Hey bucket heads! You know what? YOU HAVE NO BALLS!!" He yelled, cupping his hands around his mouth.
It made no matter. For the time being the airborne elf was out of their way. The Yoroi that had been targeting Azala and a few others that had moved in turned their attention away and moved onto their principle target…

In an unexpected move the Yoroi hopped into the air, something a heavily armored being usually could not perform. The beast arced over Thangroth and landed with a grunt on his wounded limbs before moving forward attempting to catch the dwarf from behind.
