Day Three: Second Wave

Once the King of Water had been dealt with Vesper turned his attention towards Cray who had landed back on a roof safely. The flameweaver stood indignantly. Around them Blaze and Ariakan were soundly dealing death to the wyverns allowing Cray to be unhindered.

"No more of your games." Cray pointed Atra back up at the Sky General. "Fight me Vesper. We both know a contest of powers will only lead to a stalemate. Or…" Cray deepened his voice. "... do you fear a mere human?"

Without another warning Cray's wing flared up again with renewed vigor. The pain of keeping his flames sealed in his body for three days was now erupting. Fire tore out of his finger tips and flowed along Atra, engulfing it and creating a sword of flame that extended beyond Atra.

Cray swung the fiery weapon twice, striking Vesper horizontally then vertically. The first blocked by a shield of air, the second blow was caught by Vesper's forearms raised over his head. Cray's strength and ferocity force the General down from his throne of air and forced him to crash through the roof of a building…

Wryen squinted in the distance to see the horde of monsters crashing into the first line of defense. As both sides suffered casualties he suddenly found his confidence shaken. Then he saw the lightning strike, being a man of studies rather than action he knew exactly what would happen.

"I'll bet that hurt." he said to himself with little concern beyond his own vantage point.

The priest winced when the army managed to break through the first front and head towards the area where the second line would be waiting. He glanced at his staff leaning on a wall just to make sure it was still there. Even though the battle was still a good distance away from him he still wanted to make sure he could jump in at a moment's notice.

"C'mon, I thought you guys were supposed to be heroes."

They came from around corners and from the rooftops. Lead by Kaiza and Orgha the first and second teams of the Yoroi collided with the second wave of heroes and citizens. Kaiza stuck like lightning, pouncing onto a Raiden warrior and began tearing him apart limb by limb.

Orgha struck with equal ferocity. Long and curved blades growing from his forearms pointed forward thrust through armor of soldiers, lifting two off the ground from their wound. The other Yoroi followed their lead, using their speed and weight to their advantage for the initial strike.

Fenix sat, clasping a spear in his hand. He had decided for the switch after hearing about the Yoroi. In close quarters combat, he was good, but he would prefer to keep an opponent at bay instead of having his throat ripped out. Seeing the first line break, he frowned and sat up. He still had his sword at his back, just in case his weapon gave in. "Well, it looks like we're going to fight after all."

Mia, Fou-Lu and Lucied didn't separate, especially as incredibly loyal Mia had become to Fou. She was armed with her spear and clad in various pieces of armor picked up before the battle. She wasn't fond of armor, but it was almost necessary against these monsters. Even Lucied had been armored with a hastily altered breastplate to protect his back and bracers on his legs. Mia kept trying to take the lead, but Fou forced himself in front of her protectively.

Fou's eyes found Orgha and brazenly, he attacked. Coming at the Yoroi head on, he brought up a shield he'd acquired to protect himself and stabbed at Orgha's throat. However, he was relying most on backup from Mia and Lucied.

Mia darted in for a jab at Orgha's knee, meanwhile Lucied circled around looking for any chance he could help. He couldn't take out joints with his teeth and claws, but he could act as a distraction or possibly rip out a throat.

Callin rushes in and draws his two long swords, ready for anything. He then sees a Yoroi that has yet to find a partner to dance with. Callin rushes in and attacks the Yoroi's neck.

Ryna and Leaf stuck with Callin, finding it would be safer for the three of them to fight together. Ryna had her whip ready with a weight on the end and Leaf with her spear. But once they saw what they were fighting, it was painfully obvious it wouldn't be easy with their weapons. Ryna began running through ideas for the battle in her mind.

Ardyn and Luda stood side by side. One of the Yoroi pounced at them, threatening to snap up Luda's small form. "By the power of god Myrii, I command you, halt!" Light wrapped the Yoroi's body, slowing it enough for Ardyn to thrust the full force of his body through his blade into the exact point of weakness at its joint.

Arturo drew his sword and stood at the ready, glancing over towards Joline, the blond-haired mercenary thought about her safety. But, she could take care of herself as well as anyone of that he was sure. All that was left now was the waiting, and then the clash of steel on metal, bone and flesh. As he waited he could only wonder how others were faring.

Joline had nothing but her throwing knives and staff, nothing that could apparently be of much use for battling the Yoroi. She had a secret weapon though, she hadn't trained much with it, but if there was any time to use it, today would be the day. Joline stayed close to Arturo. "Let's go!" she said and dashed outside with him. Falis, I hope I can pull this off!

Orgha was the most ferocious of the three. This ferocity made him dangerous, and fast. He swung out both of his arms. His blade and fingers cause Fou's sword and shield in one swing, throwing him back. His opposing hand caught Mia's spearhead without stopping it, deflecting it upwards so her momentum would run her into his arm-blade….

The Yoroi dropped to its hands and legs. He growled as he ducked under Callin's sword and dashed forward for its legs.

The Yoroi seemed to hesitate briefly at the spell but its armor easily broke through the spell. The ineffective of the spell worked against Ardyn as the Yoroi swung his right arm at full speed, catching the blade with his armored forearm and pushing it aside.

A Yoroi finished with his current target took a quick bite out of the knight's shoulder before throwing it aside for better food. The beast locked its dark red eyes onto Joline and pounced into the air, intent on crashing down on the woman.

Mia's chest clashed against Orgha's bladed arm, but her armor saved her life. Though the blades did break through the metal, they didn't do much worse that give her a few painful punctures. The lithe elf gave a quick shriek of pain, but pushed herself back from the Yoroi with a kick to it's hip.

Fou tumbled back, but the dark elf was soon on his feet again. Mia's shriek made him growl and gave him a burst of adrenaline. Shield protectively in front of his chest, he rushed Orgha, intending to spear the Yoroi in the chest.

Ryna cracked her whip and it wrapped around one of the Yoroi's legs, helped by the weight on the end. Ryna put herself behind a nearby lamppost and used it to help her pull back the Yoroi.

Meanwhile, Leaf dove into the fight to help Callin. She raised her hands in front of her, one holding the spear, and cast a spell.

"Gnome, spirit of the earth! Hear my call and tangle my enemy in your roots!" Thick earthen tendrils burst from the street and wrapped around the Yoroi's legs as well, then Leaf dove in and stabbed for the hip joints.
