Outcome of New Marmo Republic?

I'm still unsure of how to anticipate the outcome of this plot (I don't plan these things out after all, players shape the outcome ;), but what could be the potential outcome for CEKD? Elianna will of course be rescued, but her kidnapping may serve as more of a distraction than anything for Thrash. His plan is to divide and conquer. He will reignite the civil war between the tribes in Flaim to divide Kashue's forces, Parn will be distracted in the Forest of No Return with a new plot twist we have planned, Moss will be distracted by the theft of Mycen's egg, and Kanon...is Kanon. :P

So, when he makes his move to remove Spark from power and make a declaration of independence should it succeed? No matter what happens, Spark and Neese must live to have their children, and Thrash has to survive to father Arianna and Nareik with Sura, and raise them until at least their teen years.

Grennith pops up and kills everyone, then waves the American flag a bunch and makes Marmo a democracy.

Well, I say if we are going to have a bunch of kids from that plot, I think it should be something that has more to do here. Either A) they pull it off and now want to take back chunk of Lodoss or B) they fail and have to try again...

I'm all for revolution, no matter what happens.

Those are basically the two options I'm caught between. I'm thinking that Thrash needs resolution with his conflict with Kashue, and considering how old Kashue is going to be in 25 years, he's going to be out of the picture. I think Spark might ascend to the throne of Flaim. If Flaim still holds Marmo, then one of his kids could be Duke of Marmo.

But who wants to be the duke of Marmo? Especially when it seems like we will have enough characters to have a rehash of the the new marmo republic plot? Whoever plays Duke of Marmo for King Spark (awkward!) is going to be target number one.

I like Kashue dying and I guess Spark rising to it (who else is there, I guess? I was never a fan of Spark), but whoever takes the position of duke of Marmo is going to be fighting for their survival. And with old enemies possibly still alive (I am vaguely considering putting Grennith in this as well, since I don't expect him to die, nor have children, but I do expect him to continue assailing whoever occupies Marmo until he does die), that person will have a fricken run for their fricken money, let me tell ya! And, if this person was green behind the ears, it would only be realistic to have that character being on borrowed time unless something stronger was around to protect him/her. It might be interesting to have a plot made out of "RUNNN!!!!" (or at least amusing), but I'm not sure how well it would end up going over.

It might be a good history repeating itself lesson for something similar to the last war present itself. Kashue and Thrash duke it out, Thrash wins, then another character takes out Thrash. With the leaders of both sides essentially done for, the war would end, yet the conflict itself would be unresolved, leaving a vacuum of power in both locations. On one side, Spark sucks into Kashue's job. On the other, well, Marmo would break down into infighting without some kind of united leader. Grennith could conceivably be the replacement, but he has little desire to be the same kind of leader that Thrash, Thane, or the others would be.

We (Blake and I) were thinking that maybe at a later point (after the current timeline, maybe when his kids are teenagers), Thrash and Kashue face off but Thrash is the one that's slain, but he mortally wounds Kashue with his cursed halberd (since Kashue is too awesome for him to kill). Despite this, Kashue has still taken too much of a loss and Thrash's men step up to the plate. I suppose I'll have to talk to Darthvegeta about this now. :P

Ok, since we weren't able to come to a consensus on this, I presented the idea to an outside group of friends. They think that Thrash failing to take back Marmo would be a better option--mostly from a role-playing sense that leading an army isn't really the easiest role-play style. :P So, I'm going to go with that.

Thrash fails, Flaim wins and holds Marmo. Thrash and the survivors retreat, and Thrash stays with the dark elves where Sura conceives Nareik and Arianna. When they're teenagers, he takes on Kashue again, only to be killed in battle, but he takes Kashue down with him with a blow from his cursed halberd. Kashue eventually dies, and Spark takes the throne of Flaim.

Well, its sorta common sense that the situation would end really badly for the bad guys here. Lodoss may be in peace, but all of the heroes and leaders would definately remember the last time Marmo got their freedom, and i'm pretty sure that even if Thrash won, and retook Marmo, the other nations would quickly smite him into a fine powder. But, yeah, Kashue could be taken out of the picture. He's definately a good fighter, but he's like, 50 something now (albeit, Fahn and Bled were both old, and apparently either one was better than Kashue).
