"Of course, communication is crucial between the summoner and the spirits," Silvia replied, sounding as if she was stating the obvious. "They are sentient and intelligent, not just tools to be used on a whim. A shaman must maintain a relationship with them, and show they gratitude for their services." The half-elf ate her bread, dipping it in some of the juices of the meat after she finished her sentence.

Brest shrugged his shoulders at her explanation most of the concept just passed right by him. "Your explanation is wasted upon me Miss. Magic is magic to me and it either works or it does not. If they can talk to you and tell you where to find this man, I shall be glad of it and gladly pay you your money." He took up a wooden spoon and dug into what appeared to be a dessert of some variety.

"Do you have any preference on the size and colour of your horse?"

Silvia scoffed slightly at his lack of interest. She was an egotist, and she enjoyed it when humans fawned over her elven skills, but he was no so easily charmed. "I don't care," she replied with a shrug of her own; she'd probably sell the horse afterwards, they were too high maintenance for her. Silvia had cleared most of her plate while they talked, though she had only taken a few bites of the bloody, greasy steak. Her stomach was already churning with the meat, so she had finished every last bit of potato and bread to settle it.

"So then, we have a deal? Fifteen gold a day and horse?" she asked.

Brest considered her offer one more time. He had literally come to the end of his rope in searching the city. "We have a deal I believe. Fifteen gold a day and the horse as payment." He polished off his own food and wiped his eating dagger on some bread before he sheathed it.

"I will check with the Mercenary guild on your credentials and notify them that I have hired you if they check out. I can meet you here at lunch tomorrow to continue the search for this man." Brest folded his hands on the table after he pushed his empty plates aside. A serving woman swept by and collected the ruins of the meal and made off with the plates.

"Alright then," Silva replied, leaning back in her chair and crossing her legs. "I wont be going anywhere."

OOC: We can consider that this takes place a day ahead of the other group then, and start a new thread for their search beginning tomorrow. You might want to send a PM to Bundesphar, and see if he can tie Brest's fugitives into his NPCs.
