Background

The daughter of the leader of the Fire Tribe, Nardia was in the line of succession from her father. As she grew up, she witnessed her father desperately turn to praying to Falaris to help their tribe. She watched virgins sacrificed to please the dark god, and she was never pleased with the practice, but she hoped that her father could save their people. However, she grew up with ambitions of her own, which she hoped would not be as detrimental to her people.

In her teen years, the young shaman Azumo took an interest in her. They had always been friends, but he made his romantic intentions clear when he tried to pull her into bed with him. Feeling far too pressured by his desperation, she feared the worst and flung a burning brazier at him to escape. She left him scared for life, emotionally and physically, to the point at which he would have attempted to sacrifice her to Efreet.

After her father’s death, Nardia became the leader of the tribe, and a mysterious mage helped Azumo free Efreet from confinement. With Azumo being the direct descendant of Azhard, the summoner who made the covenant with Efreet and Djinn, he had power over Efreet. With this new power, Nardia mounted a surprise attack on Haven and declared war on the nation of Flaim. Nardia’s forces pushed Kashue’s back, and she conquered the city of Hilt. In the battle to take Hilt, she also captured Parn, and intended to have him sacrificed to Efreet.

Parn was rescued, however, and took the information he gained from her to learn more about the conflict between the tribes. As Nardia’s war raged on, Parn traveled to the Temple of Marfa at Tarba to learn from Leylia, Karla’s former host, about the Kastuulian history with the tribes. When he and his companions returned to Flaim, Deedlit freed Djinn made a new covenant with him, thus nullifying the old one with Azhard. As they joined the battle, Djinn was summoned to convince Efreet to abandon the covenant as well, and he agreed.

Though their only major advantage was gone, Nardia still lead a charge on Kashue, but he subdued her and he was able to explain that the reason the tribes were divided were through the manipulations of the Kastuulians. Nardia soon realized what a mistake she had made, and that by waging war on the Wind Tribe, she had only been killing her own people. While she agreed to make peace, she couldn’t live with the atrocities she committed, and threw herself into Efreet’s departing embers. Through her sacrifice, the fire spirit Phoenix was reborn for the first time in five hundred years.
