Chapter 5: Derim and Jaron’s Apartment

As evening came, Derim and Jaron brought Thiana and Theros back to their apartment. They had already visited the inn she was planning to stay at and collected her belongings, so she was ready for her overnight stay.

The dark elves’ apartment was in a quiet corner of town, near the pub, and there were many more dark elves in the neighborhood. Derim led the way upstairs and unlocked the door of their small apartment. It was a spartan room with meager furnishings. Two beds were on opposite sides of the room, giving the two men a bit of space. Otherwise, there was a round table, four chairs, a cupboard, and two small, but mismatched dressers beside both beds. The room had two windows on the east wall, obscured by ragged curtains. A few articles of clothes were scattered around each of the beds, but the apartment had a look of hardly being lived in. For both men, it was little more than a place to sleep at night and store their belongings.

“It’s not much, but here we are,” Derim said, leading Thiana into the room. “You can sleep in my bed, I’ll sleep on the floor,” the dark elf offered.

She was pretty drunk at the moment, not in the right mind, and she giggled a bit. She did not mind sharing the bed with him, she had managed to keep her decency many times.

“You dun hafta sleep on the floor, plenty of room in there fer two. Thank ye for off’ring to give up the bed jush fer me,” she replied, it was slurred but clear enough to understand. Theros laid by the door and watched it, his mistress stumbling over to the bed and tripping over some clothing. As she landed she laughed a little and lay there, partially on the bed. “Sho... You gonna ush da floor ’r not, Derim?” she had a coy smile as she asked, not realizing she was sounding somewhat dirty.

Derim was struck speechless for a brief moment and exchanged a surprised glance with Jaron. The other dark elf raised his eyebrow curiously. He was a little buzzed himself, but he didn’t want to take advantage of her in her state. She was Kiran’s lover and the mother of his child too. Though, it wasn’t as if Kiran would care. Take a chance, Derim thought.

“Well, if you don’t mind,” he replied to Thiana, a smirk turning up the corner of his lips.

Thiana was lying there looking at him, shifting to one side she smiled and replied, “I dun mind at all, ish not like I get ta be like thish at home. Ish been a long time since I’ve hada good time like this.” She was aware of what was going on, though she enjoyed the freedom of traveling too much at times.

Derim and Jaron looked at each other, and the silver-haired elf shrugged as if to say, ‘Go for it.’

Derim crossed the room to his bed, while Jaron went to the table and took a seat. Derim took off his coat and laid it on his dresser, watching Thiana rather suspiciously. As drunk as she was, he was sure it was a half-cocked ploy to get laid, but even if she intended it to be innocent, he would end up frustrated. The dark elf then sat down on the bed next to her and kicked off his boots.

“Either of you two want a night cap?” Jaron asked, going to get a bottle of wine from their cupboard.

“Yeah, sure,” Derim replied. I could use a little more to deal with this, for better or worse, he thought.

Thiana looked up at the offer and smiled, she was not one to turn down a drink no matter how much she had drank. “Of course, one more drink wouldn’t hurt.” She stumbled out and then sat up, supporting herself with her arms to keep herself from falling over.

Derim rolled off his bed and followed Thiana. The bard was definitely tipsy. Derim went to her and wrapped an arm around her waist to support her. “You sure you need it?” he asked, with a teasing smirk.

Jaron took a long drink straight from the bottle first, then passed it to Thiana. It was a strong dark elven wine, one Jaron got from his clan.

“Are you sure you can handle me?” she replied teasingly with a grin, when the bottle was passed she took a good swig and then passed it to Derim. She was rather teasing and flirtatious when drunk, though she was still coherent and in control.

Derim chuckled, and though he was rather nervous about Thiana’s intentions, he did all he could to appear nonchalant. He took the bottle she passed to him, and took an even longer drink, polishing off a good quarter of the bottle, then slammed it down on the table. He sighed and gave his head a shake, tossing his platinum blond hair.

Giving Thiana’s waist a playful poke, he spoke softly in her ear, “We’d better get you into bed before you pass out.” He was teasing again, but she was rather drunk.

She laughed, she had a stomach but was getting there. She would pay for the drinking in the morning, probably over the ships railing. “You really think I’d pass out atter that much, I could drink with him and not passh out until well over half hish limid. Bed soundsh good, but then sheep ish so overrated,” she replied teasingly, she was having too much fun here. Drunken seduction was not her specialty, however she was already in the process of undoing the front of her dress as he helped her to the bed.

Jaron was catching onto what was Thiana wanted to do and gave a nervous cough to catch Derim’s attention. “You guys want me to leave you alone for the night?” he asked.

Derim found himself unable to answer as he watched Thiana undo her dress. ‘Sleep is overrated,’ she said. Did she really want to sleep with him? Should he go along with it, despite her connection to his old friend Kiran?

Thiana looked at Jaron and smiled, the more the merrier to her. She had a side that also spurred her to travel, and besides she had already passed her last cycle with her son. “Nahh, thair’sh plenty of rum for you, doncha worry about it there’s enof foar the both of yoush.” She was not going to let two at once get away from her, she was being greedy tonight but then she deserved it in her mind.

Jaron paused at the door and looked to Derim. If she was willing both of them weren’t going to complain. This situation wasn’t new to them. Jaron strode across the room, his expression stoic. He didn’t seem apprehensive at all at her suggestion.

Derim turned back to Thiana. He was going to give her one more chance to decide—sometimes women had a tendency to back out when it came to new and unusual sexual experiences. He wrapped his arms around her waist from behind her, then placed a kiss at the tip of her long ear. “Are you sure now?” he asked, pressing his body against hers.

“You sure like to tease, doncha Derim? So, which of you first?” Thiana replied as her dress hit the floor.
