Ropus II is an heir to the Alanian throne discovered by King Kashue to take back the throne of Alania. After Kashue deposed Duke Raster who had been holding the throne as regent, Ropus II took the throne of Alania.
However, he is not considered to be a good king, and he has a cowardly nature, but he is closely scrutinized by the other royalty of Lodoss. When he took the throne, he tried to reintegrate the independent villages in the east, but he made a poor impression on Cecil, but they reached an agreement where Cecil would be granted the title of Earl (as he was of noble blood) and reign over Zaxon and the neighboring villages. Then Cecil would be able to set appropriate taxes and keep the villagers happy. Cecil has also become the Alanian court mage, and keeps a close eye on Ropus.
Appearances in the SeriesHe did not appear in the anime or manga, but there was a brief mention of a new king for Alania in the CotHK anime. Ropus has more of a role in the novels. It is possible that he was also the baby born to King Kadamos VII that was mentioned in the beginning of the Grey Witch manga.
